For over thirty-five years David Batterham has been going on buying-trips abroad and describing them in letters to the artist Howard Hodgkin.
He likes art journals, trade catalogues and fashion magazines but his colleagues interest him almost as much, seen in their shops or homes. The visitable bookseller, a fast disappearing breed, is here immortalised.
